What is Free software? What are Open standards?

Why are we so positive about the above and so negative about proprietory and closed products?

I will briefly demostrate the following examples:

Operating System: Ubuntu

Web browser: Firefox

E-mail client: Thunderbird

Office suite: Open Office

Imaging: the Gimp

Audio: Audacity

All of the above are cross-platform, ie you can install them all on either a Linux, OS X or Windows machine. In my opinion that is great :).

warum finden wir das oben genannte so positiv und sind gegen urheberrechtlich geschützte produkte?
kurz werden folgende beispiele demonstriert:
Betriebssystem: Ubuntu

E-mail Programm: Thunderbird
Textverarbeitung: Open Office
Bildbearbeitung: Gimp
Tonbearbeitung: Audacity

Alle der oben genannten programme sind "cross-plattform", d.h. sie laufen auf jeder der folgenden betriebssysteme: Linux, OS X oder Windows. Meiner Meinung nach ist das fantastisch :).
